Qualification Overview – Sapphire Award Cat Grooming
The Sapphire Award Cat Grooming qualification is designed for candidates who want to:
- Develop the skills and knowledge needed to prepare, style, and finish several cat breeds.
- Understand health and safety regulations in a cat grooming salon.
Course Details
This Sapphire Award Cat Grooming course combines hands-on training and online learning to provide a well-rounded grooming education:
- Practical Training: Minimum of 3 days at Absolutely Animals.
- Online Learning: 2.5 days of remote lessons from home.
- Portfolio: Complete an online portfolio to meet the 42 guided learning hours required for certification.
Personal instruction from Heidi Anderton will be included in the online lessons to provide expert guidance.
Course Structure & Requirements
The Sapphire Award Cat Grooming qualification, accredited by iPet Network, is designed for those entering the canine and feline grooming industries. Over the 3-day training, candidates will:
- Groom at least three cats, including a minimum of two different breeds and covering two different coat types.
- Learn practical skills such as prepping, bathing, scissoring, clipping, styling, and nail trimming on various cat breeds.
There are no prerequisites for enrolling in the Sapphire Award Cat Grooming course. Candidates can start at Level 3 without needing to complete a lower-level qualification first.

What is included in the Award Qualification
The units included in this qualification are:
- 337: Health and Safety in a Cat Grooming Environment
- 355: Prepare, Style, and Finish Several Cat Breeds
- 334: Feline Handling, Health and Welfare
Candidates are assessed continually through practical demonstrations and coursework. There is no requirement for a formal exam to achieve the qualification. Designed by iPet Network, this qualification offers a strong balance of theoretical and practical learning. At Absolutely Animals, we aim to reduce the pressures of adult learning by adapting to your learning style. Our goal is to ensure you leave our school fully qualified, confident, and competent.
The iPet Network Level 3 Award in an Introduction to Cat Grooming will show employers or the public that you have a fundamental understanding of cat grooming principles. You will gain a basic knowledge base that can serve as a foundation for further learning or working in the cat grooming industry. This qualification is ideal for those starting their journey into cat grooming or those who currently groom cats as a hobby but want to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.
The units and evidence from the iPet Network Level 3 Award in an Introduction to Cat Grooming can be recognised as prior learning if you wish to progress to the iPet Network Level 3 Certificate in Cat Grooming and Styling or the iPet Network Level 3 Diploma in Cat Grooming and Salon Management. To achieve these higher qualifications, additional training days and units will be required.

- Theory: 2.5 days of online lessons from home, plus an online portfolio to complete.
Includes:
- An Online Feline First Aid Course taught by Vet Dr Sophie Bell.
- DAATA Introductory Skin and Coat Course.
- Personal instruction from Heidi Anderton as part of the online lessons.
You’ll also have direct access to a tutor and a WhatsApp group for any questions.
This qualification must be completed and assessed within 5 months.
