Cat Grooming FAQ
How long will it take to groom my cat?
You will need to bring your cat in at 9:30 am and pick it up at 12:30 pm or 1:00 pm and pick it up at 4:00 pm unless otherwise arranged.
Do all your services including a bath and dry?
Bathing is not included in any of the cat grooming services (apart from the bath and dry) and is an additional fee.
What should I do before bringing my cat in the shop?
Do not feed your cat within 2 hours of its appointment. Please make sure your cat comes in a secure basket.
How do I get my cat in the basket?
Keep your cat’s basket in the house as a bed. This teaches your cat’s basket as a safe and secure place to be, and they will go in willingly.
If you store your cat’s basket in a garage or storeroom, place it in the house a few days before your appointment.
Put your cat in the basket in a secure room with some treats in the basket.
Will my cat be near any dogs?
No, your cat will not be near any dogs. They are groomed at 39 Burnt Ash Hill, a separate and dedicated location exclusively for cats, ensuring they won’t come into contact with any dogs.
My cat has knots and/or matts
We have to assess each animal individually, including the coat condition, health, and behaviour, as there are various techniques and equipment we can use to rid the coat of matts and knots and to leave the cat feeling more comfortable.

What if my cat is aggressive?
Please tell a staff member at Absolutely Animals immediately when dropping off your cat if they have any behavioural difficulties. This includes biting, growling, or scratching.

Why does it cost more for a cat to be groomed than a dog?
It costs additional money because it is a time-consuming process and there are more safety issues with cat grooming, so we need to provide two staff.
How long will it take to groom my cat?
Grooming times for cats can vary based on the required service and the number of cats we have. Typically, we allocate the following times:
Morning:
- Drop-off at 9:30
- Pickup at 12:30
Afternoon:
- Drop-off at 12:30
- Pickup at 16:00
Please note that these times can change, and the groomer will advise you on the pickup time on the day of your appointment.
When should my kitten have its first session?
We advise you to start your kitten’s grooming experience at least ten days after the final vaccinations. Your kitten can come in for an enjoyable session to become familiar with the sights and smells of the salon and build positive associations from an early age.
Please bring an item with a familiar scent for your kitten to help maintain scent continuity.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us on the form below if you have any further questions. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
